Affiliate Network
In an affiliate marketing program, a publisher joins an advertiser’s program and agrees to distribute the advertiser’s offers in exchange for commission on leads or sales generated. Whenever an end-user uses these affiliate links to arrive at and/or generate an action on the advertiser’s site, that transaction is tracked online by the affiliate network and compensated on behalf of the merchant.
In the US General Market, at least two-thirds of the top 400 online retailers utilize at least one and often more than one affiliate program; and at least 15-20% of all online sales occur as a result of referrals from affiliate publishers.
